Who needs holiday gift ideas?

I started Christmas shopping a few months ago, but now I'm going at it in earnest. Fortunately, as a Stella & Dot stylist, I have a discounted hook-up on gorgeous jewelry, bags and scarves! And I also have some great ideas for holiday gifts since I've been studying the product line inside and out. If you're buying for any jewelry or scarf lovers this year, I've got you covered! Here are my absolute favorite pieces from the current Stella & Dot product line, along with links to each … [Read more...]

Me Too.

At the time of this post, the #MeToo movement is taking over social platforms and the news media. In response to one of the highest profile sexual assault cases to date, girls and women from all walks of life are openly sharing their own experiences of being harassed or assaulted by men. I like to keep things positive on this blog, but I also want to be authentic. I shared a "Me Too" post of my own on Facebook the other night to show solidarity for the literally dozens of my friends who had … [Read more...]

Hidden parenting milestones

There are certain milestones in parenthood that everyone preps you for - breastfeeding, the first time your baby smiles, when he or she rolls over, when he or she sits up, teething, crawling, standing, cruising, walking, potty training... the list goes on. But there are certain milestones that sneak up on you and happen before you realize what's going on. No one prepared you for these - they are what I call hidden milestones. Sometimes you don't know they're even happening until they're behind … [Read more...]

I am Wonder Woman

The new Wonder Woman movie that came out this summer was amazing for so many reasons - not the least of which is that it reminded me how much I loved the original Wonder Woman TV show as a kid. Playing as Wonder Woman as a little girl always made me feel so empowered and strong! Here, you can see little me rocking the awesome, custom, hand-made Wonder Woman outfit my mom made for me back in the '70s. Even today, during and after my workouts at Rock N Shock, I feel the same way - super … [Read more...]

Friday Favorites: online shopping version

As you may have figured out by now, I'm a huge fan of direct selling companies like LuLaRoe, Agnes & Dora and of course, my own personal side hustle, Stella & Dot. That said, I still do a fair amount of shopping at stores and online, too. So, for today's edition in my Friday Favorites series, I'm going to focus on some of my favorite online shopping purchases and discoveries. Ready, set... shop! Universal Standard - US is a clothing company with simple, gorgeous, seasonless … [Read more...]

Testing out at Rock N Shock

Today was a big day for me at Rock N Shock Fitness! After working out at the 30-30-30 class level for eight months, this morning I tested out and into the next level up, 1-1-1. I am so proud, happy and excited to have accomplished this - and best of all, I tested out with all of the ladies with whom I've been working out for months. It was a fabulous shared success. Congrats to all my 30-30-30 girls who are now 1-1-1! One of the coolest things for me is that I was able to keep up with - … [Read more...]

Corresponding with Elves year-round

Our family dove head-first into the world of Elf on the Shelf when our daughter was about four. Each year, her bond with Emmalina, her Elf, grows stronger; she's been known to cry real tears when Emmalina departs back to the North pole on Christmas. We received a special dispensation from Santa right from the start which allows Zoe to hold and hug her Elf. Maybe that's why she and Emmalina have grown so incredibly close? Emmalina has even made special arrangements to stay with us a few days … [Read more...]

A triumphant return to RNS!

I'm delighted to report that I'm back at 100% with my workouts at Rock N Shock and I feel great. it's almost like my knee surgery never happened! Actually, I've been working so hard this month that Master Breaker Danielle joked I should have surgery more often - she said she's never seen me work so hard! She asked me when I'm scheduling my next one. All joking aside, I was a bit anxious about going back to RNS and I am SO HAPPY that everything is going well, I'm back at full steam with my … [Read more...]

One month ago, we fell.

One month ago today, I slipped and fell down hard. I face-planted. I hurt my knees, bit my lip and bashed my head on the ground - it wasn't pretty. In addition to being unbelievably painful and scary in the moment, it was also really, really embarrassing and honestly somewhat traumatic. But until now, you haven't heard a word about it. I kept it to myself and didn't tell anyone outside of E and Z, who were with me when I fell. And now I feel silly that I didn't talk about it, and also a bit … [Read more...]

5 favorite things for spring

Once upon a time, I used to blog on occasional Fridays about some of my favorite things. I fell out of the habit - but let's get back to it, pronto! I definitely have some fun spring-themed favorite things to tell you about. 1. Godiva beaded eggs. If you only think of Godiva for chocolate, you'd be right - and wrong. Each spring, Godiva comes out with an absolutely exquisite sequined egg. I've been collecting them for about six years. Each year the egg is different and they're all gorgeous. … [Read more...]
