Fun, free events for kids

Raise your hand if you're going stir-crazy and are in desperate need of spring. Or at least spring break. That's me in a nutshell right now! Fortunately, we've found several fun, free family activities that are getting us through the doldrums of winter. Yes, even though we're having an unseasonably mild winter, it still drags on - so some extra free fun outside of the house is always a bonus. Check your local stores or websites to be sure these classes are offered near you, too - and note … [Read more...]

Disney Live! presents Three Classic Fairy Tales

By now, you should know that I love all things Disney - and that includes when Disney on Ice glides into town each year to make our Ohio winter that much warmer and happier. But this fall, Columbus has a special surprise in store - a brand new Disney Live! show featuring the classic tales of Cinderella, Belle and Snow White in a theatrical performance. Disney Live! presents Three Classic Fairy Tales will appear at the Schottenstein Center just one day only - Sunday, October 25 at 1 pm. It's … [Read more...]

Superhero Day at Easton

I have a new favorite family activity for the month of August to add to my family fun "best of" list at the end of the year: Superhero Day at Easton Town Center! Easton puts on some seriously cute events for families, and this one definitely did not disappoint. It was a gorgeous sunny day when we donned our capes and superhero masks and headed to Easton to do some errands and have some fun. I got a little shopping done, picked up a few things we needed and then we headed for Fenlon Square to … [Read more...]

Welcome Hanna to Columbus

When Zoe was a wee babe, I loved Carter's clothes on her. As soon as she got old enough to make her girlie fashion preferences known, Hanna Andersson became my favorite go-to brand for the perfect combination of quality and comfort. So you can imagine my delight that our very own Easton Town Center in Columbus is now the proud home to the country's latest and greatest Hanna Andersson store! This weekend is the grand opening and I'm sure the place will be packed because there are some great … [Read more...]

Mermaid magic in Ohio

Long-time friends and readers know that my daughter Zoe and I are both fairly obsessed with mermaids. In fact, at last check, Zoe still says she's going to *be* a mermaid herself when she grows up. I do nothing to dissuade her from this notion. We're planning a visit soon to the legendary Weeki Wachee mermaids in Florida after Zoe fell in love with mermaid Taylor during the Weeki Wachi mermaids' visit to Newport Aquarium last fall. (Side note: this was such a successful event for the aquarium … [Read more...]

Disney on Ice for everyone

Full disclosure: our family will receive free tickets to Disney on Ice and we were also provided the tickets to give away here. This is made more awesome by the fact that we would have bought our own tickets and gone to see the show anyway! Read on for how you can win.  As I've shared before, Disney on Ice is one of our favorite things to do in February. But this year, with Zoe about to turn five, is the first time she's actually asked about Disney on Ice before I had the chance to … [Read more...]

Star-gazing at COSI’s new planetarium

Central Ohio families now have another reason to head to COSI for fun and learning: as of winter 2014-2015, COSI boasts the largest planetarium in Ohio. Zoe and I got to experience the planetarium this week and had a wonderful time learning about the sun, moon and stars. At just $4 per person for members ($5 per person for non-members), the planetarium show is a great way to round out your day of fun at COSI. Zoe and I took in the "One World, One Sky: Big Bird's Adventure" show, aimed at the … [Read more...]

Taming the holiday chaos

This blog post originally appeared on the Easton MomEscape site. Full disclosure: I serve on the MomE Mavens panel and I adore Easton Town Center! But you probably knew that already. Women and moms everywhere are starting to feel the urgent pull of "getting it all done" before the holidays. It's a time-honored tradition to stress into a frazzled mess at this time of year! We'd like to help with some ideas to tame the chaos. We polled the Easton MomE Mavens - a group of fantastic moms and … [Read more...]
