Friday favorites: lips, hips and dust

Welcome to my on-again, off-again Friday Favorites series. If you like this post, check out the others that came before! It's Friday again. Can I get an amen?! Today, I have a collection of fun, healthy stuff to share. All they have in common is the faintest thread of girliness, fitness and health - plus one wild card thrown in for fun. Enjoy! 1. Revlon lip balm pencils. I first picked up one of these at Ulta and fell in love with it - then grabbed a couple of others at a local drug … [Read more...]

5 more thankful things

I used to have a fun little blog series called Friday Favorites. I forgot to add any new posts for a long time. Then, this month I started a weekly "5 thankful things" series for November. Now, the two are becoming one - so here are five favorite things for which I am thankful! 1. Our fish. When E got his awesome new job working from home, he got a crazy big aquarium for his home office. This little work perk for E's man cave has turned into a wonderful addition to our whole family. We love … [Read more...]

My first 5 thankful things

I'm seeing a lot of bloggers focus on gratitude and appreciation this month, and it makes sense. Many of my Facebook friends are posting one thing each day to be thankful for. I've decided that each week in November, I'll be posting five things I'm thankful for. Since many of the things I'm thankful for are also my favorite things, I'm wrapping this into my long lost Friday Favorites series - and hopefully I'll keep it going strong even after the month is over. Since I didn't start on time … [Read more...]

The best gifts for kids 3+

Over the past three and a half years, we've both bought and received many gifts for Zoe. I've come to realize that the absolute best toys always have to do with building and creating. This is not just some crazy builder phase we happen to be in right now - this is time-tested and proven. Old building toys she's had for years are her absolute favorites - and new toys are instantly beloved as long as they have something to do with building, creating or inventing. This kid is definitely heading … [Read more...]

The butterfly experiment

This summer, I did something I never thought I'd do: I invited five live, wiggly insects into my house, cared for them, and treated them like treasured members of the family. Somewhere in another life, the old, pre-kid me was screaming in horror the entire time. The things we do for our little ones! But in all seriousness, the butterfly experiment - having caterpillars arrive on the doorstep and nurturing them as they turn into chrysalids and then ultimately hatch as newborn butterflies - … [Read more...]

Wish this came in my size

I've been doing this mom thing for a while now, and I have an observation: kids' clothes are awesome! Especially toddler girl stuff. I can't tell you how many times I've wished that the soft, comfy outfits, sassy colorful tutus, and super-fun light-up shoes I buy for Zoe also came in mom sizes. Of course, it helps that Zoe seems to have insanely awesome style. She does things with creative layering that I would never dream up. She's been dressing herself for a while now and I still can't … [Read more...]

Origami Owl: as cool as it sounds

Are you sick of direct selling companies yet? You know - where you host a party at your house and get all your friends to buy things so you can make out like a bandit in hostess credit. I am. Or rather, I was - until I discovered Origami Owl. Now I'm seriously considering having a party to introduce my friends to this cool, personalizable jewelry. In the meantime, I'm sharing a product review. I'm not being compensated in any way for this review. I paid for my Origami Owl jewelry myself - … [Read more...]

Pouf! I’m obsessed

As I may have mentioned, we're moving to a new home soon. I'm super excited because it's the first house E and I both see as a potential forever home. The first house we lived in together was his before he met me, so it wasn't really ours. Then when we moved to Columbus, we felt so rushed that we bought a house before we found the perfect one. I've always loved it here, but E never truly did - he settled. For this big move, we took our time, visited a ton of houses and found the … [Read more...]
