About this time last year, I wrote that I wanted more dancing in my life.
In fact, I made “dance” my focus word for 2025 after falling in love with the dance classes at my gym late last year.
Loving to dance isn’t new for me. In my high school and college years, and all through my 20s, 30s and 40s, I loved going out dancing into the wee hours with friends.
But if there’s one thing I know to be true about myself these days, it’s that going out dancing late at night is just not for me anymore. I still love to dance – and I do want more of it in my life! But I need it to be daytime dancing. Morning dancing. Dancing where I still get to be in my warm, cozy bed at or soon after my standard 9 or 10 pm bedtime.
That’s why I’m so convinced that manifesting is real, because I have spoken this daytime dancing desire SO MANY times and now the universe has heard me.
This month, thanks to my involvement with our local Yelp Elite Squad, I was introduced to a whole new world: daytime raves. It’s like they were invented just for me – I am hooked!
For a recent Yelp Elite event, we were invited to visit the gorgeously renovated, historic Legacy House 614 in downtown Columbus for a morning social event featuring delicious food and tea from East African Coffee House, fancy coffee from Koffee Paradise, activities for reflection and connection from Abundance Day Raves… and music from DJ Kaivan. It was my first-ever breakfast rave and I LOVED it.
The mingling, snacking and connecting came naturally. But dancing? At 9 in the morning? That felt a little awkward at first, despite the awesome tunes.
Thankfully, Abby from Abundance is a natural mover and groover. She took to the dance floor wearing rainbow wings and got the party going. Soon, several of us were dancing our worries away. It felt magical and was an absolute blast. Once I started dancing, I never wanted to stop.
The effervescent feelings of joy, elation and freedom that bubbled up on that dance floor stayed with me all day long. I honestly hadn’t done anything like this since my daughter’s toddler years – and now I can’t wait to do it again soon.
If you’ve never experienced the joy of a morning rave, I highly recommend it. And if you’re sorry that you missed out on the fun, don’t fret! Abundance Day Raves is hosting an open house and dance party at ZC Tea Salon in the Short North this Saturday from 11 am to 1 pm. Find out more here – and if you go, I’ll see you on the dance floor!
