One holiday light show to rule them all

Longtime readers must know by now that I love all things bright, sparkly and shiny.

Of course, this includes holiday lights. There’s nothing better than a home or neighborhood bedecked with twinkling lights – unless it’s driving through an entire wonderland made of colorful, lively holiday lights set to festive music.

Yes, I’m talking about Butch Bando’s Fantasy of Lights in the Alum Creek State Park campgrounds!

There may be other light shows out there – new ones seem to come to town every year – but none have made the longstanding commitment to our community that the Bandos have demonstrated. The Fantasy of Lights organization gives back to so many local charities, year after year, so your money stays right here in our community.

If you see corporate sponsorship signs throughout the light show, that’s because those entities have also donated to the Fantasy of Lights charities and causes. There’s no end to the giving!

Last year, for the light show’s 25th anniversary, I blogged about our 25 favorite things about Fantasy of Lights. It’s worth a read – you may not know all of these fascinating facts about Lewis Center’s own holiday light extravaganza.

This year, as in all recent years, I’m giving away a handful of FREE tickets to drive through the Fantasy of Lights show anytime during the season.

Fantasy of Lights is open from November 21 through January 4, 5:30 to 9 pm Sunday through Thursday and 5:30 to 10 pm Friday and Saturday nights. They are even open on the holiday days themselves from 5:30 to 9 pm, including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day!

You can drive through Fantasy of Lights in any weather, and I actually recommend visiting in both rain and snow as it adds to the magic.

If you’d like to win one of our free tickets, simply comment below (or over on Facebook or Instagram) with your family’s favorite holiday tradition. We’ll pick winners at random by December 10 and reach out for your address so we can mail your ticket to you!

From our home to yours, we wish you a warm, bright and merry holiday season.
