Did you know your skin is the largest organ of your whole body?
Our skin protects us, regulates temperature, receives sensory information and stores important nutrients. Our face is also a big part of making a first impression.
It makes sense that we should take good care of it, no?
That’s why I’m so happy to have found my new favorite aesthetics boutique so close to home: The Glow House right here in Lewis Center. They specialize in “acne and age management” and I like that.
Aging is not a bad thing – it’s wonderful. But it’s up to us whether we embrace all aspects of aging or choose to “manage” some of them. For example, I still like to dye my hair. I’m not ready to go all grey yet.
Likewise, when it comes to my skin, I want to keep it looking as healthy and good as I can for as long as I can. I’m not about to cover up wrinkles or laugh lines – I earned those by being hilarious. But I do want to keep a youthful glow, too.
Not to mention the fact that going to a spa or boutique for skincare services is just a lovely form of self-care. When else does a busy mom get to take time for herself? Relaxing on a table and getting all sorts of delightful treatments to help us feel and look our best is one of my favorite things to do.
That’s where my love of dermaplaning and facials comes from: just wanting to feel fabulous and look my best. I haven’t found anything else that leaves my Gen X face looking dewy, luminous and radiant; I’ll even go makeup-free after a great dermaplane facial sometimes. And the skincare service I got from Maddy “the Skin Witch” at The Glow House was my favorite of all time.
I can’t even tell you all the amazing, high-tech skincare services Maddy did to my face. In addition to the dermaplane and facial mask, there was infrared treatment, pictured above, which is supposed to be great for aging skin. There was also lymphatic drainage massage, which felt amazing and I swear gave my whole face a new lease on life.
It all felt incredible (well, except for extractions – those never feel great – but Maddy is a total pro and quick like a bunny!) I was super relaxed on the table!
I have felt so fantastic ever since. When I look in the mirror, I’m happy with what I see. Do I have the face of a 20-year-old? No, of course not – but it’s definitely the best version of MY face and I love that for me.
No longer do we LC folks have to drive over to Powell or even to downtown for fabulous, high-end aesthetics services. The Glow House is adorable inside and conveniently located right on 23, just north of the Lewis Center Kroger. I’m so thrilled to have found them!
Whether your skincare issues are related to acne or aging, The Glow House has got you covered with services that will make you glow.
If you decide to give The Glow House a try, be sure to let them know I sent you!
