Don’t you love it when something you’re crazy about gets even bigger and better than ever before?
Think of a favorite park expanding to offer even more trails, natural goodness and room to roam. Or a favorite candy bar releasing a king-size version (imagine if Cadbury Creme Eggs did this?!)
That’s a little bit like what I’ve got going on at work right now.
On Our Sleeves, which started as the Nationwide Children’s Hospital movement for children’s mental health back in 2018, has grown and expanded over the past 5-1/2 years. And now, after some research and a whole lot of work, our new baby is here in the world: introducing The Kids Mental Health Foundation!
I couldn’t be more proud. Not only am I thrilled to see this natural evolution of a local cause and organization I care deeply about – but also, because I am now a part of the team, I even got to help make this happen. It’s been hard keeping such a big project under wraps and it feels great to shout it to the rooftops.
Bigger isn’t always better, but when it comes to kids’ mental health and the important work our organization does, getting bigger means we can partner with more corporate sponsors, reach more people and provide more free mental health resources to parents, teachers, coaches and organizations across the country. It’s a huge deal for us – and for kids everywhere.
Mental health matters – and nowhere is this more important than in the lives of children. Imagine a world where every parent and caregiver knows how to take care of kids’ mental health the same way they take care of their physical health. A world where families have support and emotional well-being tools for coping long before any trauma or mental health crisis occurs.
Now, The Kids Mental Health Foundation can help get the word out to more adults nationwide so that all kids can benefit from having their mental well-being looked after – just like their physical health.
