You need this perfect, uber-flattering coatigan from Germany

Hoodies are amazing: warm, cozy and comforting.

Hooded sweatshirts are the reason so many of us love fall.

“It’s hoodie weather!” I am known to joyfully exclaim on that first chilly morning in September. The month of October is even better, when hoodies can be worn all day and not just for those cool mornings and evenings.

But there’s one thing I don’t love about hoodies, and that’s how unflattering they are to the female figure.

It makes sense, right – I mean, hoodies are unisex. They’re meant to be oversized and not show off one’s shape. And who says we need to flatter our figures, anyway? Men don’t typically worry about that.

But still, I do sometimes wish I could get the comfort and coziness of a hoodie with a shape that doesn’t make me look like a potato on legs. I can’t be the only one who has thought this.

That’s why I am literally overjoyed to report that I have found the ultimate zippered, tunic-style, elevated hoodie – a coatigan, if you will. It’s perfect for fall because it’s warm and cozy, yet also super flattering, stylish and confidence-boosting. I am just about losing my mind over this item of clothing and I want to wear it every day, forever.

This coatigan is not only more feminine, but it’s also a bit classier than a regular unisex hoodie. You can dress it up and wear it to the office or on a Zoom – or wear it with joggers and be super casual. It even has deep pockets. It’s literal perfection and I need one in every color.

The only downside? While it doesn’t cost any more than a good quality hoodie by Nike or some other name brand, this coatigan is made by a German designer and shipped here via FedEx, so shipping will cost you.

Ulla Popken is a fashion brand for women’s sizes 12 – 40 with a huge array of styles and designs. This particular coatigan of my dreams is their Zip-Front Ruffle Hi-Low Hem Tunic Sweatshirt.

It comes in a multitude of colors and even a few prints – my first was the gorilla print and absolutely adore it. It’s subtle yet unique – like a softer, comfier version of the olive green jacket that has been my style staple for years!

And yes, I’ve since ordered it in a few more colors because it’s my new insanely amazing, magical working mom uniform. I wear it with a T-shirt underneath and jeans, joggers or leggings. It also looks great dressed up a bit with what I’ll call “work pants,” aka my Athleta Brooklyn ankle pants or their Target dupes.

My new favorite coatigan even comes in a sleeveless vest version which I’ve had my eye on. I’m not fully convinced that I could pull off the sleeveless version, but I am not above being persuaded to try it.

Note that certain colors of this coatigan are on sale right now. And, you can definitely find coupon codes for Ulla Popken, so don’t pay full price. If you can’t find a discount code online, message me and I’ll give you one!

What do you think – is this the coatigan of dreams? Have I convinced you to try one, or have you seen something similar in stores? Let’s talk fall fashion in the comments below or over on Facebook or Instagram!
